Planning Underway for Shakopee Derby Days 2011

The Shakopee Derby Days Committee officially kicked off its planning for Shakopee Derby Days 2011 on Thursday, Jan. 20 with the election of its 2011 board of directors and officers at its annual membership meeting. Board members include: Jack McGovern, President; Jay Whiting, Vice-President; Shirley Keller, Treasurer; Wes Reinke, Secretary; Dean Bauleke, Shawn Berens, Brian Burgeson, Brian Dahl, Lauri Glenn, Heidi VonBokern, and Lois Weckman.

The Shakopee Derby Days Committee is a volunteer group dedicated to planning and implementing an annual community festival that brings residents, businesses, and visitors together to celebrate the past, present, and future of Shakopee. This year the 25th annual Shakopee Derby Days festival will be celebrated on Aug. 3-7, 2011.

Those interested in joining the Shakopee Derby Days Committee are invited to attend the next committee meeting, to be held Thursday, Feb. 24 at 7 p.m. at the Shakopee Community Center.

Donations and sponsorships are needed to support this five-day festival, and are tax-deductible. Individuals interested in donating to Shakopee Derby Days are asked to log on to www.shakopeederbydays.com and click on "Donate" to download a donation form. Businesses interested in being a sponsor may find a sponsorship packet on the Derby Days Web site by clicking on "Sponsorship Information." Donations and sponsorships may be made payable and mailed to Shakopee Derby Days, Attn: Fundraising, PO Box 312, Shakopee, MN 55379. Be sure to provide your email address if you would like a receipt.
