The Grand Band with Chad Magnuson

Grand Band recretes the feel of the Rat Pack with vocalist Chad Magnuson at the Huber Park Amphitheatre during Derby Days' Taste of Shakopee on July 30
Rat Packers and hipsters unite! The Grand Band with vocalist Chad Magnuson performs at the Huber Park Amphitheatre during Shakopee's Derby Days on Thursday, July 30th.
The 13-piece Grand "Big" Band will include local vocalist, Chad Magnuson, at their outdoor performance at the Huber Park Amphitheatre on Thursday evening, July 30, 2009. The 90-minute concert begins at 5 p.m. and is FREE of charge. Crooner Chad Magnuson will front the band for a selection of songs straight from the RAT PACK days of the mid-1960s. These tunes and arrangements were originally performed by legends Dean Martin, Bobby Darin, Nat King Cole, and Frank Sinatra.
May 15, 2008 marked the 10th anniversary of the death of Frank Sinatra, a vocalist many consider the greatest ever when it comes to interpreting the classic swing tunes and ballads of his time. The Huber Park Amphitheatre will temporarily feel like the showroom of The Sands Hotel as Chad Magnuson performs tunes in tribute to Sinatra that include Call Me Irresponsible, I've Got The World On A String, and many others. The United States Post Office recently issued a commemorative 42-cent stamp featuring a familiar Sinatra likeness. Much like the Elvis Presley stamps of years past, there were over 100 million stamps purchased within the first 24 hours that it was available.
In addition to the tunes dedicated to those "Rat Packers" in the audience, The Grand Band will perform a variety of instrumental charts including classics like Cole Porter's Love For Sale and songs made famous by the orchestras of Count Basie, Stan Kenton, and others. Drummer Ed Finley of Eagan formed and leads The Grand Band from behind his 1960's vintage drum set. Vocalist Chad Magnuson is from Corocoran and the band appear at social and fundraising events year 'round. An evening of toe-tappin', finger-snappin' fun is guaranteed to put smiles on the faces of those in attendance.
