Czech Area Concertina Club Concert
Shakopee Derby Days is pleased to announce that the Czech Area Concertina Club will be playing at the band shell in Huber Park on Saturday, August 1st, 2009, from 1:15 to 2 p.m. FREE admission!
About the Czech Area Concertina Club
The music they play is called Old Time. It a collection of Czech, German, Polish – immigrant pop – that flourished in Minnesota in the first half of the century. Polkas, waltzes, laendlers. "Johan pa Snippen" to "She's too Fat for Me" to the "Beer Barrel Polka." These are the songs that you could expect to hear at any ballroom or wedding in small towns throughout Minnesota and Wisconsin. This is the music that Midwesterners danced to.
